How much maintenance does FluidWorker require?

FluidWorker is designed to minimize maintenance needs. For example, both the BRIX sensor and UV light have patented solutions for automatic cleaning.  FluidWorker 100  / FluidWorker 150  , which both have UV lights, require replacement after 9,000 hours of use. These units also have a built-in pump for fluid circulation, so cleaning the inlet filter with a magnet may be necessary depending on what’s in the cutting fluid.  FluidWorker 50  /150 both allow easy access and cleaning of the BRIX sensor if dirt is suspected.

Can I run unmanned without worrying about the cutting fluid?

Unmanned production is an important step toward achieving increased capacity and cost-efficient machining. When  FluidWorker 50   or  FluidWorker 150   is installed, it handles the daily maintenance of the cutting fluid completely automatically. The only task for the staff is to refill new concentrate in the tank or replace the drum.

How can I reduce my high cutting fluid costs?

Often, the concentration is far too high with manual handling, which leads to unnecessary costs. In our customer cases, we see that automated cutting fluid management reduces consumption, sometimes by as much as 75%, considering that fewer fluid changes are needed since the fluid is always in optimal condition.

Why does my cutting fluid smell bad -  and can I get rid of the odor?

Accepted Answer

Bad odor is often caused by anaerobic bacteria that thrive when the fluid is stagnant. Therefore, it’s good to use  FluidWorker 100   and  FluidWorker 150  , which both circulate and UV-treat the fluid. FluidWorker 150 also makes it possible to maintain a stable concentration and easily add new fluid to the tanks when necessary.

How can I maintain the correct concentration in cutting fluid without fluctuations?

It is absolutely correct that it can be both difficult and that you do not always have time to manually measure and adjust the fluid concentration. Both  FluidWorker 50   and  FluidWorker 150   measure and adjust the fluid concentration automatically, which means that after measuring, they add the amount of cutting fluid concentrate and water needed to maintain the set concentration level.

How do I prevent the machine tank from running dry?

Unfortunately, it happens that there’s no time to refill the fluid, resulting in lost production capacity.  FluidWorker 50   and  FluidWorker 150   handle this completely automatically, maximizing productive machine hours.

Too many have experienced flooded and wet workshop floors, leading to production stops, transport issues, and cleanup needs.  FluidWorker 50   and  FluidWorker 150   manage fluid refilling autonomously, frequently adding the necessary fluid without risk of wet floors, ensuring continuous production.

Can I prevent rust on parts and in the machine?

Rust is a serious problem that can lead to scrapped components, customer complaints, and even machine failure. Rust can occur in several ways: if there are many bacteria, they can destroy the rust protection in the cutting fluid; in other cases, the concentration may be too low, for example, if only water has been added.  FluidWorker 50   ensures the correct concentration at all times, and if you want to further improve rust protection,  FluidWorker 150   also offers circulation, aeration, and UV treatment of the fluid.

Is there a way to avoid using biocides?

Legislation and regulations for biocides are becoming increasingly strict, and many companies do not allow their use.  FluidWorker 50   and  FluidWorker 150   enable fluid management according to the specifications of cutting fluid suppliers, with continuous measurement and adjustment where new concentrate and water are frequently added. The UV light feature in FluidWorker 100/150 also provides an effective way to minimize microorganisms in the fluid without using biocides.

Today, many operators lack the knowledge, time, and interest to manage cutting fluid. Operators often have more machines to handle, many measurements to take and adjustments to make, tool changes, material refills, and ensuring the robot cell works as intended.  FluidWorker 50   and  FluidWorker 150   create the right and stable conditions for machining with minimal maintenance: refill concentrated cutting fluid and possibly clean the inlet filter where there is a magnet.

How long does it take to install FluidWorker?

Installation of FluidWorker is done in parallel with ongoing machining and takes about 30–60 minutes depending on the model. All FluidWorker units require a 230V power outlet, and FluidWorker 50/150 also need access to water and concentrated cutting fluid.

Is my measurement data handled securely when using FluidWorker?

FluidWorker operates completely autonomously, and no data is shared with us or any third party. FluidWorker 50/150 allow data export via USB or ETHERNET, where communication uses OPC-UA.
